Messy Playgroup for Toddlers: They’re going to make a mess anyway, so why not do it somewhere else? 10-11AM every Friday at The SECC Community Hub, 1007 Botany Road, Mascot. Children 1-3 yrs and their parents/carers can join the supported playgroup hosted by the SECC, for only $3 per family. Learn more and book here.

‘Home in St George 1920-1960’ Exhibition Opening: 6PM at Hurstville Museum & Gallery, 14 Macmahon Street, Hurstville. ABC TV's Carole Ferrone is the guest speaker for the opening of the new exhibition, which explores home and domestic life in the St George area from the 1920s to the 1960s. The exhibition includes more than 160 rare objects, drawn from the gallery's collection. The exhibition will run from May 6-July 23. Learn more.
Carss Park Autumn Night Market: 4-9PM at Carss Bush Park, Carwar Avenue, Carss Park. ‘Bayside Foodies and Farmers’ will be hosting a Spring night market with a food festival vibe. There will be 75 stalls featuring the best local artisans, producers, international street foods, wineries and craft beers. The small car park fills up pretty quickly, so it’s best to park at the Carss Bush Park parking area (off Bunyala Street, Blakehurst) and walk five minutes to the event. Learn more.

Ramsgate Food Markets: 8AM-2PM at Ramsgate Public School, Chuter Avenue, Ramsgate Beach. Around 60 stallholders sell everything from baked goods to flowers to wine to clothes. Parking’s plentiful in the surrounding streets and everyone’s welcome with the exception of four-legged friends, who can’t enter because of the school’s regulations.
Recycling Drop-Off Event: 8AM-3PM at Bayside Council Bexley Depot, 10-14 Rye Avenue, Bexley. Keep the wheels of the circular economy turning by dropping off your e-waste, metals, whitegoods, mattresses, garden waste, X-ray films, light globes and old bikes. The depot is only open to Bayside residents during these regular events and only for materials advertised as accepted items. Learn more.
Bushcare at Lambert Road Reserve: 9AM-12PM at Lambert Road Reserve, Bardwell Park (the reserve entrance is next to 4 Lambert Road or 75 Darley Road, Bardwell Park). Bushcare is a chance to meet likeminded people and get some exercise while looking after the local environment. Learn more and register here.

St George Potters Mother’s Day Sale: 10AM-4PM at St George Potters Studio (the Old St David’s Church), Corner Hirst & Edward Streets, Arncliffe. Get Mum a beautiful unique handmade gift while supporting local artisans.
Cannery Markets: Under new ownership, the Cannery Markets will be on 9AM-3PM Saturday & Sunday at 61 Mentmore Avenue, Rosebery. Over 40 stallholders showcasing local food, art, crafts, jewellery, gifts and more. Learn more.
Community Sports Weekend: 9AM-5PM on Saturday & Sunday at the Heffron Centre, 417-439 Bunnerong Road, Maroubra (opposite Southpoint Shopping Centre). Have a sticky-beak at the new community sports courts and gymnastics centre in Maroubra's Heffron Park. There will be FREE activities all weekend, including centre tours, gymnastics and dance activities, mini sport competitions (basketball, futsal, pickleball, badminton or volleyball), plus other games. A sausage sizzle will be available 11AM-2PM. Learn more.
Shopfront Arts Co-op Birthday FUNdraiser: 6-10PM at Shopfront Arts Co-op, 88 Carlton Parade, Carlton. Raise much-needed funds for the youth arts organisation and enjoy special performances, food, fun quizzes and more. Adult tickets are $65 and include a main meal and one drink. St Mark’s Street Festival: The inaugural street festival will be held at 5-9PM on Saturday and Sunday on Broe Avenue, Arncliffe. There will be food stalls, charity activities, face painting and more.

Cooks River Clean Up: Join the annual Paddle Against Plastic from 8AM-2PM at River Canoe Club of NSW, Mackey Park, Marrickville. You can take part on land or water, removing litter from the Cooks River and surrounding banks. Book your space to attend for a land-based clean up (it's free!) and you'll be provided with a litter picker, rubbish bag, orientation and map. Or book a canoe to join the clean up on the river. Canoe hire is $16 for 90 minutes, and includes use of paddling and safety equipment. You can also BYO boat and join the clean up in your own craft - just make sure to register. All attendees need to reserve a place for the time they wish to attend the event; for those joining by canoe, there are 2 start times for getting on the water; 8:30am and 10:30am. Aussie NightMarkets at Brighton-Le-Sands: 4-8PM at Kyeemagh Carpark, Kyeemagh Beach, General Holmes Drive (via Southbound lanes), Brighton-Le-Sands. Food trucks, stalls, rides and games. Free entry and on-site parking, but there are limited spots, so get in early! Learn more.

Nature Playgroup: 10-11AM at Arthur Byrne Reserve, Maroubra. Children 0-5 years and their parents/carers can play together in the natural environment. Each session includes songs, activities, stories, and free play. Please note the space has no closed fences or boundaries. This event by South Eastern Community Connect (SECC) is free but tickets are required. If it’s your first time attending an activity by SECC, you need to complete an online registration form.

Supported Playgroup: 10-11AM at Eastlakes Public School, 7 Florence Avenue, Eastlakes. The SECC hosts unstructured and structured play activities that develop children's social, emotional or cognitive skills. All of the SECC’s supported playgroups offer developmental monitoring called Learn the Signs Act Early (LTSAE). All staff are trained in this and have a background in children’s development. Prams & Grams Playgroup: The intergenerational playgroup meets at 10-11:30AM every Wednesday (until June 21) at the KCS Community Hub, 49 English Street, Kogarah. The program connects kids 0-5 with seniors aged 55+ through play, story time, and various activities. Open to people from all areas, but preference given to those from the St George and Sutherland areas. It’s a free activity with morning tea provided. Registration essential. Learn more.

Tote Art in the Park: 10-11AM at the Tote Building overlooking Tote Park, 100 Joynton Avenue, Zetland. Children 0-5 years and their parents/carers can enjoy some outdoor creativity with art in the park and sensory activities. Each session is $3 per family. Learn more and get tickets.
Intergenerational Yoga: 10:30-11:30AM every Thursday (until June 29) at the KCS Community Hub, 49 English Street, Kogarah. Fun and interactive, all abilities yoga class for ages 0-99+ facilitated by the Yoga Foundation. There will be options to participate on the mats or sitting in a chair.
