Welcome to Bayside’s home for everything local

The new online publication sharing everything our area has to offer.

Last updated on 29 January, 2024.

Welcome to the Bayside Beacon, a brand new publication that’s all about telling the stories that matter to the community of Bayside.

I'll get to why I'm launching this project, but first let me explain what the Bayside Beacon is and what I hope it can become.

What is the Bayside Beacon?

Pretty simply, it's an online local newspaper. You'll be able to read about what's happening in the area by visiting our website baysidebeacon.com.au or by subscribing to our weekly newsletter — sent every Friday at 7:00am.

It's completely free and you’ll get all the info you need to stay in the loop in under five minutes.

Our focus will be on the suburbs in the Bayside Council area, including places like Bexley, Rockdale, Brighton-Le-Sands, Mascot, Botany and Eastgardens, to name a few.

The goal is to bring you all the local news about the people, businesses, and events that make Bayside such a unique place to live.

Why a local paper?

I started the Bayside Beacon because our area has been forgotten by the mainstream media.

These days, it's easier to stay up-to-date on what's happening halfway around the world than to find out about local issues just a few blocks away.

The Beacon is here to fill that gap.

We will be independent, but we won't apologise for one bias - we'll be all about celebrating Bayside and everyone who calls it home.

What do you want to see?

Let us know what you want from your local paper.

If you have any feedback, story ideas, or just want to say g’day, drop us a line at [email protected]. You can also find us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter - just search for @BaysideBeacon.

I'm excited to get to know our community better and to uncover all the hidden gems in Bayside.

And with that, I'll leave you with one request: If you haven't already, sign up for our free newsletter! The first edition is hitting inboxes this week, and I promise you won't want to miss it.
